Single family and multi-family builders in Georgia can earn an extra $600 per home or $300 per unit for constructing energy efficient new homes, thanks to the Georgia Power EarthCents New Home program . In order to qualify for the rebate, each home/unit must:
- Be tested and verified utilizing the national standard HERS Rating Index to validate the energy savings
- Have a HERS Index Score of 77 or lower
- Be served by Georgia Power
- Have all-electric heating and water heating systems
For each point below 77 scored on the HERS Index Scale, an extra $25 (single family) or $12.50 (multi-family) can also be earned.
For SkyeTec’s HERS Index Rating program, each home/unit is tested and verified for energy efficiency and the HERS Index Score is calculated, similar to the miles-per-gallon rating on a car. The HERS Score measures the home’s energy efficiency, the more energy efficient the home is, the lower the score. SkyeTec provides you with the guidance to help your homes/units achieve a 77 or better and do so in a cost-effective manner. Our energy analysts complete the testing and submit the required documentation to Georgia Power on your behalf. We also integrate our technology with the HERS Index Rating program to produce clear results for your project.
