Energy Code Testing

Duct leakage testing is used to identify the magnitude of air leakage from the HVAC duct system in a home when compared against the square footage of a home. There are two types of duct leakage. The first type is total duct leakage which measures the amount of unintentional air leakage from the duct system in areas within the conditioned space and areas outside of the conditioned space. The second type of duct leakage is outside duct leakage which measures the amount of unintentional air leakage from the duct system in areas outside of conditioned space. When considering the two types of duct leakage the greater total duct leakage will cause more comfort issues, the greater the outside duct leakage will cause more costly energy bills.

The Duct Leakage test enables the builder to identify air leakage areas, provide needed air sealing if necessary, and increase the energy efficiency of the home. SkyeTec is equipped to readily provide Duct Leakage testing for energy code compliance to builders of any volume. Our use of technology ensures that any required documentation is submitted to the building official immediately following testing. We understand the importance of getting the certificate of occupancy on time and strive to make energy code testing hassle free.

  • Submitting documentation to officials following a passing test

  • On-time certification of occupancy

  • Hassle-free energy code testing
